Personal Connection
My father was an avid gardener. We had a huge vegetable garden and he would grow all sorts of things. He later became a landscaper and I worked with him for years, before taking over the business with my husband Greg. I would go to Scenic Roots when it was Agway with my parents. We would buy flowers, shrubs and veggies from Ray. It brings me so much joy to still be going all these years later.
The ‘Grow’ Experience
When I had my very first home, my dad helped me landscape the property. I would mow the lawn, and rework the beds each year. This is when I really started to appreciate landscaping and growing plants and flowers. My favorite part was taking an unused portion of my yard (overgrown) and making into a beautiful garden. Being outside and working in the soil nourishes me like nothing else.
Favorite Finds
My absolutely favorite annual flower is the Bubblegum Petunia. I also have a thing for Impatiens. Proven Winners has always been a brand name I trust. I love Miracle Gro potting soils and fertilizers and use them throughout the growing season to keep my plants healthy and thriving.
Garden Tips
One of the best tips I ever received from one of my girlfriends was to use Miracle Gro fertilizer on Impatiens once a week to keep them growing healthy and keep the leaves green and flower prolific. I do this at least once a week on all of my annual flowers for the best results. Also not over watering plants. When I first started gardening, this was a big mistake I made and not fertilizing enough.
